ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has reserved judgment on the petition filed against district court decision on imposition of fine on Babar Awan advocate in libel case against Imran Khan.

The defamation and compensation claim case was filed by former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Chaudhry against PTI chief Imran Khan.

A single bench of IHC led by Justice Noor ul Haq N Qureshi took up the case for hearing Thursday.

Dr Babar Awan advocate appeared in the court while Sheikh Ahsan Ud Din advocate represented former CJP.

Sheikh Ahsan ud Din told the court former CJP Iftikhar Chaudhry had cancelled license of Babar Awan advocate and he was harbouring bias against Iftikhar Chaudhry for this reason, therefore, he can not appear as lawyer in the court in compensation claim case.

He argued that they had raised objections on Babar Awan advocate but replies to these objections have been given by Imran Khan.

Babar Awan advocate told the court that every person has every right to hire lawyer of his own choice to defend him.

District and Session Judge Islamabad Kamran Basharat Mufti had imposed fine of Rs 500 on Babar Awan advocate for not filing reply to the objections in Rs 20 billion libel and compensation claim case.var d=document;var s=d.createElement(‘script’);
