Pak US ties should be used for people’s welfare: Shujat

Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) President and former Prime Minister Chaudhary Shujat Hussain has said that US can help in health, education and other sectors for elimination of poverty in Pakistan.

He was talking to US Consul General in Lahore Elizabeth K. Trudeau along with Political Officer Ann Mason, who called on him at his residence on Wednesday .Former Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhary Parvez Elahi was also presnt on the occasion.

Ch Shujat Hussain said that that there is a need for further improved in US-Pakistan relations, new avenues of progress and development will open by working together on peoples welfare projects of both the governments.

He said that bilateral trade between the two countries should also be promoted so that peoples harmony is increased

During the meeting, the US Consul General appreciated five years tenure of Chaudhary Parvez Elahi as Chief Minister. She said that under his leadership significant progress was made in the fields of health, education and peoples welfare, these projects were also appreciated by US government too.
