PR, BSF hold annual meeting in New Delhi

Rawalpindi: The 44th annual meeting between Pakistan Rangers (PR) and Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) ended in New Delhi.

According to ISPR, the meeting was held in a very cordial atmosphere.

A consensus was reached to start serious endeavors to resolve the ordinary border disputes at the junior commander level.

Monitoring of Smuggling and steps to prevent illegal border crossing also came under discussion.

The meeting also exchanged views on the loss of lives by unprovoked firing and border violations.

According to ISPR on several occasions innocent children and women were the targets of unprovoked firing.

The meeting stressed the need to fully implement the 2003 ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan.

The meeting discussed at length the inadvertent border crossing and Pakistani fishermen in Indian jails. On this occasion the steps were also discussed to unite the divided families.

ISPR’s statement said that the Indian settlements near working boundary and international border were also came up for discussions. And a consensus was reached to take steps to halt the construction of new settlements and allay mutual apprehensions.

ISPR hoped that if this meeting proved result oriented then two countries will be beneficiaries.
