Economy lost its path after industrial nationalization: Tarin

Lahore: Federal Revenue Minister Shaukat Tareen on Sunday said that all the long and short term economic projects that were initiated with consensus of stakeholders would yield fruitful outcome.

Addressing a dinner hosted by Institute of Business Administration, University of Punjab in Lahore, Tarin said that all the stakeholders were taken on board for success of the development projects and implementation of these projects would definitely strengthen the country’s overall economy.

Shaukat Tarin said Prime Minister Imran Khan has taken scores of initiatives to improve financial condition and living standard of poor segments of society.

About Kamyab Pakistan programme, the Finance Minister said around four million families would benefit from this mega project.

Analysing Country’s economy during different time periods, Shaukat Tarin said that Pakistan was the fourth largest Asian economy in 1968 but it ‘lost its path’ after a political decision was made to nationalize industries.

He said that Pakistan’s economy was facing reattribute of becoming part of Afghanistan war back in 1979. He noted that country was carrying ‘unbearable’ burden of US war on terror after September 2001 attacks.

Tarin said that Prime Minister Imran Khan and his government took solid steps towards empowerment and uplift of layman. He said that he faced NAB courts for opposing Rental power projects in 2008.

Shaukat Tarin said that Punjab University’s IBA was playing imperative role to boost country’s economy and he would ask Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood to further facilitate the institution.
