Islamabad: SHOs in 6 police stations of Islamabad have been transferred.

Inspector Abrar Hussain has been appointed as SHO of Tarnol police station, Inspector Asjad Mehmood appointed as a SHO of Bhara Kahu , Inspector Rasheed Ahmed appointed as SHO of Golra Station, Sub Inspector Arshad Ali appointed as SHO of Rescue 15 station from Koral police station, Sub Inspector Khurram Shehzad appointed as SHO of Koral Station, Sub Inspector Nasir Manzoor appointed as a Secretariat of Station.Regarding to this matter Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Islamabad Doctor Syed Mustafa Tanveer .

Under umbrella of Ehsaas, launching of Education Stipends programme is just on the anvil: Sania Nishtar

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to PM on Poverty Alleviation Senator Dr.Sania Nishtar and Minister for Federal Education, Professional Training, National Heritage and Culture Shafqat Mahmood co-chaired the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Ehsaas and Federal Ministry for Education and Professional Training.

The MoU aimed to tap additional human resources for the roll out of Ehsaas Education Stipends programme.On the occasion, a second MoU was also signed between Ehsaas and National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) to mobilize eligible families to enrol their children under Ehsaas Education Stipends.

“Under the umbrella of Ehsaas, the launching of Education Stipends programme is just on the anvil and preparations are in full swing to roll it out nationwide.In this regard, Ehsaas is also signing MoUs with provinces to expand education stipends programme”, said Dr.Sania.

“Federal Ministry for Education and Professional Training will fully collaborate with Ehsaas to bring back out of school children to schools and reduce the dropouts.Children of the eligible families can benefit from Ehsaas stipends to continue their studies till higher secondary education”, said Shafqat Mehmood.

There are 18.7 million out-of-school children in the country.Ehsaas Education Stipends programme has been designed in coordination with provinces, and Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training to avoid duplications; reduce disparities in primary to higher secondary education opportunities by raising attendance, school enrolment, and the school progression among out of school children particularly girls.Children of the deserving families registered with Ehsaas can get education stipends in schools and colleges registered with the concerned Education Departments to continue their secondary and higher secondary studies.

National Ehsaas survey is on its last leg, based on which, 10 million families are being identified and enrolled this year under Ehsaas Kafaalat programme.Children in all classes, in every district, of all Ehsaas eligible families are eligible for Ehsaas Education Stipends.Ehsaas is also signing MoUs with the Secondary Education and Higher Education/Colleges’ Departments of provinces for identifying and providing education stipends to the eligible families.

MoUs are aimed to forge collaboration between Ehsaas and provinces for effective implementation of education conditional cash transfers (CCT).The two MoUs were signed today at the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training in Islamabad.Federal Secretaries from the Education Ministry and Ehsaas programme also joined the ceremony along with senior officials from both the Ministries.Naveed Akbar, Director General CCT, Ehsaas and Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, Additional Secretary, Federal Ministry for Education and Professional Training signed the MoU.From NCHD, Hassan Baig from NCHD signed the MoU.

PM Imran Khan advice on Afghanistan issue was overlooked: Chaudhry Fawad

ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has said Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan advice on Afghan issue was overlooked.

“PM Imran Khan advice was ignored in regard to Afghanistan.Ashraf Ghani did not hold elections in Afghanistan.Broad based government was not established.A comprehensive policy has been evolved with reference to Afghan refugees.Situation will not be created like past”, he said this in an interview with TRT World,

He went on to say Pakistan had worked with Afghans for long time When Russia left Afghanistan in 1988 several problems were left behind.Now US and NATO forces have evacuated from Afghanistan fast.Pakistan is keeping a watchful eye on this matter.

He remarked Pakistan is hosting 3500000 Afghan refugees since years upon years.A coalition government and efforts of the international community are must for resolution of Afghan problem in the wake of complicated situation in Afghanistan.

He underlined Pakistan has played a responsible role with reference to Afghanistan.Our economy cannot bear more burden.Afghanistan was left alone in the past.The world is repeating the past mistake.Afghanistan should not be allowed to become the hub of extremists outfits.

He recalled that when Soviet Union left Afghanistan, we had to deal with the problems left behind and now when the US and NATO forces are leaving Afghanistan we are again in a quagmire.

The Information Minister said if Afghanistan does not get stabilized, millions of Afghans will start moving towards Pakistan.He said Pakistan is already hosting 3.5 million Afghan refugees and our economy is not strong enough to take more refugees.

Responding to a question, Chaudhary Fawad Hussain said at the moment there is no refugee crisis.

He said Pakistan has evacuated foreign nationals from Kabul.PIA evacuated more than two thousand people.

He said our borders are actually normal right now but if the instability continues in Afghanistan, then we have a comprehensive plan to deal with the migrants.He said we do not want Afghan migrants get into Pakistan but we will make arrangements for them at the border.

Pakistan is striving for stable Afghanistan, he said adding we are working with regional and international powers.An inclusive government should be formed in Afghanistan.

President Alvi says presence of millions of Afghan refugees on Pakistani soil was a testament to our hospitality

President Dr.Arif Alvi said that Pakistan occupies a unique place in the international community in terms of charity at the individual and institutional levels.He added that the presence of millions of Afghan refugees on Pakistani soil was a testament to our hospitality.

The President gave these remarks at briefing regarding the charitable activities of the Community Partners International (CPI) and SHINE Humanity, in Karachi on Monday.

President Dr.Arif Alvi appreciated CPI and SHINE Humanity over donating 100 oxygen concentrators to be used in Karachi.

Addressing the meeting, the President said that Pakistan had achieved tremendous success in containing the spread of the COVID-19 virus due to the timely and judicious decisions of the Government.

Pakistan’s Government timely realized the gravity of the COVID-19 pandemic and imposed smart lockdowns to avoid economic downturn, he added.

He urged NGOs and health workers to also give priority on prevention side of the diseases like hepatitis and Tuberculosis.

President Dr.Arif Alvi thanked CPI representative Ms.Anum Ashraf Ali and Chairman SHINE Humanity Ali Naqvi for their contribution to the noble cause.

German Foreign minister arrives in Pakistan

Islamabad: German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas arrived in Islamabad Monday on a two-day visit to Pakistan.

During his stay in Pakistan, he will hold wide-ranging talks with high-level dignitaries, including Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, and exchange views on the latest developments in Afghanistan.

According to Foreign Office, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi will share Pakistan’s perspective on the evolving situation in Afghanistan and discuss ways of addressing its various dimensions.

In the bilateral context, matters relating to cooperation in political, economic and trade, security and defence, cultural and academic spheres are expected to come up.

Pakistan and Germany enjoy close and cordial relations.This year marks the 70th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Recently, a number of high-level exchanges have taken place, illustrating as upward swing in bilateral relations.

This is the second visit of Foreign Minister Maas to Pakistan during the current year.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Qureshi visited Germany in April 2021.

Emergency helpline 911 to be established to curb crimes: PM

Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday said the protection of life and property of the people is the primary responsibility of the government.

He was presiding a meeting of the concerned officers of the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication in Islamabad on Monday to get update on the establishment of Universal Pakistan Emergency Helpline 911.

The Prime Minister directed the concerned authorities to remove all obstacles in the commencement of service as soon as possible to curb crime in the country.

The Prime Minister was informed that all necessary work including inter-provincial liaison has been completed and the helpline will be ready for regular opening by the first week of October this year.

The Prime Minister hoped the launch of this helpline would help ensure peace and security in the country by enabling timely action against crime.

66 die, 3800 tested positive in corona virus in a day

ISLAMABAD: As many as 66 more fatalities occurred and 3800 new cases of corona virus were recorded during the last 24 hours in the country.

As per the National Command and Operation Centre’s (NCOC) statistics 56, 279 coronavirus tests were conducted across the country in the last 24 hours and 3, 800 among them tested positive taking the total number of cases to 1, 156, 281.The positivity ratio stood at 6.75 percent.

The tally of fatalities has surged to 25, 670 in the country .

3, 548 patients have recovered from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours across the country, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1, 036, 921.Active cases are reported to have reached level of 93, 690.

At least 50, 985, 184 doses of COVID vaccines have been administered all over the country so far..

PM reviews supply, demand of essential commodities

Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the chief secretaries to take all possible administrative measures to bring stability in the prices of essential commodities.

Chairing a meeting in Islamabad on Monday which reviewed the supply and demand of essential commodities and their prices, he directed to end the illogical difference between the prices of retailers and wholesalers.

Imran Khan said the results of administrative measures must be visible in order to provide relief to the masses.

The Prime Minister also directed that keeping in view future requirements of sugar and wheat, comprehensive planning and timely measures be ensured.

Imran Khan said it is top priority of the government to protect the common man from price hike.

The meeting was informed about the current stocks of sugar and wheat and steps taken to meet their future requirements.

The meeting was also informed about the steps taken to bring down the prices of edible oil.It was informed that the prices of edible oil are expected to come down ten to fifteen rupees per kilogram.

The meeting was informed about the action taken against the officers not fulfilling their responsibilities vis-a-vis bringing stability in the prices.It was informed that seven Assistant Commissioners and two secretaries of market committees have been suspended whilst warning has been issued to two deputy commissioners.

Pakistan moving forward in its commitment to criminalize enforced disappearances: Mazari

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Human Rights Dr.Shireen Mazari has said Pakistan is moving forward in its commitment to criminalize enforced disappearances.

In a series of tweets on the occasion of International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances, she said a bill on enforced disappearances, prepared in consultations with the stakeholders, has been approved unanimously by National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Interior.

There can never be any place for enforced disappearances in a democracy, she remarked..

She held Prime Minister Imran Khan met Baloch families of Disappeared who shared their list of missing family members.Some have since returned home while others are being traced, she added.

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has directed DG FIA, IG Islamabad, chairman PEMRA, Attorney General and Advocate General Islamabad to appear before it in person in journalists harassment suo moto notice.

The court has summoned details of ongoing proceedings of Islamabad High Court (IHC) in this regard.

The case came up for hearing before a 3-meber bench of SC presided over by Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan here Monday.

Justice Munib Akhtar remarked during the hearing of the case constitution of Pakistan provides freedom to media.No mention is made about freedom of media in US and Indian constitutions.We will nullify if any law is found contrary to article 19.

Justice Qazi Amin remarked we can not do politics as judge.Job of journalists is too doing journalism and not doing politics.Journalism and expression of freedom should move in civilized orbit.Judges are in the hands of history and not in the hands of some individuals.

Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan remarked SC will interfere for the protection of rights of journalists.Court stands with the journalists on the matter of salaries and retrenchment.

During the hearing of the case Abdul Qayyum Siddiqui, Asad Toor and Amir Mir withdrew their applications.

Upon it Justice Munib Akhtar remarked if the court room is vacant even then we will hold hearing in open court.

Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan remarked the court has to satisfy itself if the fundamental rights are not being violated.Media is conscience and voice of the nation.

The court while directing DG FIA, IG Islamabad, chairman PEMRA, Attorney General and Advocate General Islamabad to appear before it in person adjourned the hearing of the case till September, 15.
