CJ IHC Aamer Farooq seeks reply from Imran Khan’s counsel in Tyrian White case on Jan 19

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday sought reply from the counsel for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan on a petition seeking his disqualification "for concealing his alleged daughter’s name in the nomination papers."

IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq heard the petition filed by Mohammad Sajid who contended that Imran Khan had disclosed his two sons and not his alleged daughter Tyrian White in the nomination papers. He sought the disqualification of the former premier under Article 62(i)(f).

A legal team comprising Salman Akram Raja Advocate, Azhar Siddique Advocate and Abuzar Salman Khan Niazi Advocate represented the PTI chief in the case whereas a lawyer for the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) also attended the hearing. Meanwhile the petitioner was represented by Hasnain Ali Ramzan Advocate during the hearing.

As Salman Akram Raja argued that a verdict in an identical case had already been announced, the chief justice directed him to submit his written reply. The ECP counsel also endorsed the argument of the lawyer of the PTI chief. The IHC, later, adjourned the case till Jan 19, directing Imran Khan’s lawyer to submit his reply on next hearing.

In November last, the IHC had indefinitely adjourned the hearing on the petition after the petitioner did not appear before the court. The IHC had already declared inadmissible an identical petition (by another person) seeking the disqualification of the former premier for concealing Ms White as his daughter in the nomination papers.
