India-Pakistan Dialogue Feasible, Says JandK Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary

Baramulla: Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Surinder Choudhary of the National Conference, has advocated for dialogue between India and Pakistan, highlighting recent examples of cross-border engagement. Speaking at a press conference in Baramulla, Choudhary cited the Afghan Foreign Minister's visit to India and ongoing cricket matches as proof that communication is possible despite prevailing tensions.

Drawing on his experience living near the border, Choudhary emphasized that wars since 1947 have disproportionately affected civilians in Jammu and Kashmir, causing displacement and shelling-related casualties. He criticized 'studio-based' war rhetoric and pointed to modern security threats, including drones and cyber attacks.

Reported by local news agency KINS, Choudhary's statement echoes broader calls for peace amid India-Pakistan frictions and has been covered by regional outlets such as Kashmir Life. His remarks underline the human cost of conflict in a region that recorded over 5,000 ceasefire violations in 2024, according to Indian government data.
