Islamabad: Inside story of meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has come to open
An important meeting of extraordinary nature was held between PM and President Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad.
Both the leaders deliberated over recent exchange of bitter statements between PPP and PML-N.
The matter of not taking into confidence over Pak-Saudi defence agreement also came under discussion.
Both the leaders agreed on promoting environment of reconciliation between both the parties and avoiding statements against each other.
According to reliable sources, a one on one meeting was held between them after exchange of views at delegation level. Detailed discussion was held on important matters related to political situation, foreign affairs and national security in the meeting.
Sources said president and PM agreed on further strengthening mutual working relationship so that the cooperation between government and Aiwan-e-Sadr could be stabilized at institutional level.
PM Shehbaz Sharif informed the President about the details of agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. PM also informed the president about Gaza Peace agreement and the points of his talks with US president.
Sources said President identified the problems facing PPP in Punjab and stressed on resolution of these matters.
PM assured the president federal government will further fortify harmony and political partnership between provinces and federation.
According to sources PM was accompanied by foreign minister and minister for planning who briefed the president about foreign policy and progress in development projects.
Assurance was given on considering PPP proposals for rehabilitation of flood affected areas.
Consultation was also made on return of Afghan refugees, Pak-Afghan borders situation and law and order situation in the country.
