LAHORE:Lahore High Court (LHC) has suspended Election Commission (EC) notification to conduct general election through bureaucracy.The notifications issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan appointing district returning officers, returning officers and assistant returning officers from executive in the upcoming general elections has been suspended by the court.A single bench of LHC led by justice Ali Baqar Najafi has announced reserved judgment on PTI petition.Justice Ali Baqar Najafi while recommending to constitute larger bench to hear the petitions against conducting the general election through bureaucracy in Punjab sent the file to Chief Justice (CJ) LHC .It has been said in the decision that billion of rupees of the nation are spent on holding election. If larger parties don't accept the result of the election then the money of the nation will stand wasted. EC has to conduct free and fair election. Level playing field has to be provided to the candidates and voters to turn trans parent election into realityJustice Ali Baqar Najafi wrote in his decision the desired results cannot be achieved from general election in the prevailing situation which can weaken future of democracy.National issues have been highlighted in the petition, therefore, file is sent to chief justice for constituting larger bench.
