PMandDC launches institutional restructuring for enhanced efficiency and digital transformation

Islamabad: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMandDC) has announced a comprehensive institutional restructuring to modernize its operations through full digital transformation, performance-based systems, and enhanced employee development.

The initiative aims to strengthen transparency, accountability, efficiency, and service delivery across all functions of medical and dental education, licensing, and professional regulation in Pakistan.

President PMandDC Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj, in his statement, termed the reform 'a new era of institutional excellence and transparency.' He said that the Council has redesigned its entire organizational structure, clearly defining job descriptions, responsibilities, and reporting lines to ensure accountability and eliminate redundancy.

Under the restructuring plan, PMandDC is filling all key vacant positions to improve financial discipline, legal compliance, and administrative efficiency. A performance-based evaluation and reward system has been introduced, including monthly and annual assessments, ACRs, and monetary incentives for outstanding employees.

Recognizing the importance of human capital, PMandDC has launched training and capacity-building programs for employees, featuring expert-led workshops and professional sessions to enhance technical, administrative, and leadership skills.

As part of its digital transformation, PMandDC is implementing a comprehensive Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to streamline operations-covering registration, licensing, accreditation, and HR management. The system will ensure data accuracy, real-time monitoring, and faster service delivery.

A robust internal control mechanism has been put in place to reinforce governance, prevent procedural lapses, and enhance financial oversight. The Council is also launching a user-friendly digital interface for applicants, institutions, and practitioners, offering enhanced security and accessibility.

Dr. Rizwan Taj highlighted that PMandDC has already digitalized examination registration systems for MDCAT, NRE, and NEB to ensure a seamless and transparent experience. The new systems enable online registration, real-time tracking, and automated processing to minimize delays and errors.

To strengthen outreach and accessibility, Regional Facilitation Centers have been established in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, and Gilgit-Baltistan, offering licensing, registration, accreditation, and public services.

'The focus is on efficiency, accountability, and innovation,' the PMandDC President reaffirmed. 'Through digital transformation, strengthened governance, and professional development, PMandDC is committed to serving the medical and dental community with integrity and professionalism.'

The restructuring is expected to enhance operational efficiency, staff motivation, and institutional credibility, while ensuring transparent evaluation, strong governance, and nationwide accessibility for stakeholders.
