20 killed, 42 injured in separate road mishaps across country

PAKPATTAN/ MUZAFFARGARH/LAHORE/GHOTKI : At least 20 people have been killed while 42 others sustained severe wounds in different road mishaps across the country.

According to details, a speeding dumper rammed into coaster in Pakpattan and killed eight passengers. The rescue teams have shifted the victims to nearby hospital for medical assistance.

In Muzaffargarh, Mazda crushed passenger van and motorcycle and left six dead and several people injured. While arriving at the scene, the security forces have cleared the road.

Separately, two cars collided with each other on Lahore’s Ferozpur Road and killed three people. On the other hand, Sufi artist lost his life in a road accident near Naushahro Feroze.

Meanwhile two women and a minor girl died and 10 other passengers were wounded when a bus turned turtle due to over-speeding at the Multan-Sukkur Motorway near Ghotki in the wee hours of Tuesday.

According to eye-witnesses, the bus caught fire after the accident due to which three people, including two women and a girl, were burnt alive while ten other people were wounded.

The ill-fated bus, with 45 passengers, was going to Karachi from Bannu. Police sources said that the accident occurred as the driver fell asleep during driving and lost the control of the bus.

Police and rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the dead and injured to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Mirpur Mathelo.
