Aafia’s mother hopeful about Imran’s US visit

KARACHI: Ismat Siddiqui, the mother of Dr Aafia Siddiqui, is optimistic that Prime Minister Imran Khan would tell the nation good news about her detained daughter, when he returns from his US visit.

She was talking to a group of writers and columnists who called on her at the residence of Dr Fowzia Siddiqui and inquired about her health. Columnist Usman Damohi, Qadir Yousafzai, Hafeez Khattak and others were present, beside the noted columnist of Islamabad, Mir Afsar Aman.

Despite her illness, Asmat Siddiqui came out of her room to greet the visitors. She hoped that the Prime Minister on the occasion of his visit to the US would tell the nation good news about early return of Dr Aafia. She said without Aafia, she passes her days in a great pain and agony.

The visiting writers and columnists expressed sympathy and solidarity with Ismat Siddiqui and hoped that the matter of Dr Aafia’s repatriation would be on the top of agenda of Prime Minister Imran Khan during his visit to America. They vowed to continue their struggle till a respectable return of Dr Aafia.

It may be noted that 5950 days have already passed of Pakistani woman educationist and mother Dr Aafia Siddiqui in the US detention.
