KARACHI: Chairman, Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABAD), Arif Yousuf Jeewa, has called for demolishing of illegal and without NOC constructions in progress in the city and take stern action against these contractors and the government officials allegedly patronizing them.

According to a statement issued here on Monday, the ABAD Chairman said

that illegal construction without NOC from the relevant department was a serious problem of Karachi.

The ABAD was against such illegal activities and always raised voice against illegal construction because such activities were badly affecting the municipal policies, the master plan and also damaging infrastructure of the city, he said.

He said that there were more than 50 percent slum areas, which were the

challenges to Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) and the Master Plan Department.

The ABAD Chief said that those contractors involved in illegal construction were not paying any tax to the national exchequer. They also created serious problems and caused financial damages to the builders and developers who carried their businesses according to rules and regulations of the SBCA and other related departments.

He urged all utility services to stop providing facilities/network to illegally constructed buildings so that the illegal construction activities could be discouraged.
