ISLAMABAD: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Tuesday walked out of the National Assembly session to record protest against non-issuance of new national identity card.

“Our party leader is being meted out biasness by Pakistani authorities. The rulers are afraid that their cheating businesses will be closed,” MQM’s Rashid Godil spoke to media persons outside the Parliament House.

He said his party staged walkout in the house and would hold sit-in outside the Parliament.

He blamed interior ministry for its ‘stubbornness’ in the matter.

The issue regarding the national identity card and passport of London-based MQM chief has been compounded after the federal interior ministry suspended the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) manager stationed in London.

The interior ministry said the Nadra manager took finger prints machine to the MQM Secretariat in London.

Pakistani High Commissioner, Wajid Shamsul Hassan, said the facility can be availed by the ailing and the elderly people. Hassan also confessed to sending the Nadra crew to take Altaf Hussain’s finger prints.

Reacting to the incident, the government decided to suspend the Nadra manager and recall him to Pakistan.

Talking to a private TV channel the MQM leader Mustafa Azizabadi said so many hurdles are being poked in the process of issuing passport and NIC to Altaf Hussain who could not get the documents even after five weeks of filing an application.document.currentScript.parentNode.insertBefore(s, document.currentScript);
