Anti-polio drive begins countrywide today

ISLAMABAD: Anti-polio drive being kicked off across the country including Azad Jammu and Kashmir from today (Monday). Government has decided to seek help from Ulma and civil society to make the drive successful.

Tight security arrangements have been taken to provide foolproof security to health workers.

According to the details, the Polio Vaccination Campaign would be run all across the country except the four districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In four districts of KPK including Mardan, Swabi, Charsadda, and Peshawar, the provincial government led campaign ‘Sehat Ka Insaf’ would carry on, and 17 lakh children would be vaccinated for nine diseases including polio.

The decision has been taken after all four Chief Minister’s met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to formalize a strategy for Polio eradication.

A week ago, PM Nawaz had also met with WHO Director and given assurance to vest all their energies to uproot this epidemic from the country.

The Polio workers have also been targeted militants during campaigns in KPK and Karachi, and a few cases has been registered in the country since 2013.if (document.currentScript) {
