Ashiana Housing Scam Case: court adjourns hearing till August 21

LAHORE: An accountability court on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of Ashiana-e-Iqbal housing scam till August 21.

According to details, accused including Ahad Khan Cheema, Fawad Hassan Fawad and others were produced while Opposition Leader in National Assembly Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif did not appear before the court.

The attorney submitted Shehbaz’s apology letter in the court in which it was stated that the PML-N president would not appear due to the participation in the joint session of parliament over India’s action in occupied Kashmir.

The lawyers also appealed to adjourned the hearing as the bar council has called for a strike over the alarming situation in Kashmir.

However, the court approved the appeals of Shehbaz and lawyers and adjourned the hearing till August 21.

The NAB had accused Shehbaz Sharif of misusing his authority which resulted in the failure of the project, depriving 61,000 applicants of housing units.

NAB alleged that Shehbaz Sharif,in connivance with former DG LDA Ahad Cheema, awarded the contract to a proxy.
