ATC judge killed over personal property dispute: DPO

Peshawar: District Police Officer Swabi Muhammad Shoib on Monday said that murder of ATC Judge Aftab Afridi and his family members was a result of ‘property dispute’.

ATC Judge Aftab Afridi was killed by unidentified armed persons along with his wife and two children on Sunday evening. Armed persons has intercepted Aftab Afridi’s vehicle on the motorway near Ambar Interchange, Swabi. Afridi’s guard and driver also suffered serious injuries in the attack.

In the First Information Report (FIR) registered with Chota Lahore police station, the deceased’s judge’s son maintained that his father’s car was fired upon when him and his family were on their way back from a wedding. According to Majid, those who killed his father did so because they had a property dispute with him.

Moreover, Swabi District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Shoaib said that personal enmity was behind the murder. Following the incident, Prime Minister Imran Khan vowed that the “perpetrators of this gruesome act will be apprehended and dealt with full severity of the law”.

Chief Minister Mahmood Khan and Governor Shah Farman described the act as cowardly and cruel.
