Children are the most vulnerable segment of any society: Ali Alizade

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Azerbaijan Alumni Association in collaboration with Faculty of Social Science organized a Seminar, titled “Society’s Role and Responsibilities: Anti Harassment & Child Protection” at SZABIST University Islamabad.

Speakers included, The Chief Guest Ambassador of Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Alizade, Head of Campus Khusro Perviz Khan, Ahmed Quraishi-Executive Director YFK, Ms Samina Karim Child expert, Advocate Huma Jamil Baber Legal Expert, Qasir Nawab.

While addressing to the Seminar Ali Alizade said”Children are the most vulnerable segment of any society. Every single child has the right to grow up in a safe and nurturing environment – free from any form of violence, abuse, harassment or neglect”. He said that protection of child rights has not limited by adoption of relevant legislative acts, but also is realized through taking concrete measures. The Government of Azerbaijan took always important measures for social protection of children.

“In Azerbaijan the issues concerning social and legal protection of children are regulated by the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan and number of laws. There are the groups of vulnerable children in our country as well – refugee and IDP children who are victims of Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan. Today, 20% of territories of of Azerbaijan are under occupation of Armenia and more than 1 million people became refugees and IDPs, and 40% of them are children.

The Government of Azerbaijan takes important measures for the protection of vulnerable children with the support of international organizations. Children without parental care are under the special protection of the state” he said.

Qaiser Nawab from Pakistan Azerbaijan Alumni Association said that Child protection is much very important subject, Government and civil society must play their role regarding adoption and implementations of Child Protection and Anti harassment laws.
