Lahore: A local court in Lahore has ordered Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan to submit his reply in a case pertaining to defamation of Pakistan League President Shehbaz Sharif and Former PCB Chairman Najam Sethi.

A Sessions Court in the Provincial Capital heard defamation cases against Imran Khan.

Judge Anjum Imtiaz Malik heard a petition filed by Shehbaz Sharif. However Counsel to Imran Khan, Advocate Babar Awan could not appear before the court due to pre-occupation.

Junior Advocate informed the court about his client’s stance. The Junior Advocate argued that his client has talked about Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad so the Lahore based court lacks the authority to hear the case.

Counsel to Shehbaz Sharif argued that Imran Khan misinformed the public about Panama Papers case and levelled allegations on Shehbaz Sharif to offer Rs 10 billion as bribe. He went on to say that the PTI Chief for his political benefit committed character assassination of his client. He prayed to the court to order Khan to pay defamation money.

On the petition of Imran Khan, challenging the authority of court, the court asked counsels of both parties to argue.

On the other hand Najam Sethi’s petition against Imran Khan in defamation case was heard in a Sessions Court. Additional Sessions Judge Anjam Mumtaz heard the case. However any reply on the behalf of Imran Khan was not submitted. Later the court adjourned the case due to strike of Lawyers and Order the PTI Chief to submit reply on next hearing. Najam Sethi has sued Imran Khan for a defamation money of Rs 100 million. Najam Sethi has taken the stance that Imran Khan has levelled fake allegations of corruption on him during his public gathering speeches, which has damaged his reputation.
