CTTI-JICA memorial academics, Sports Week held

ISLAMABAD: To commemorate the 60th anniversary of development cooperation between Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Government of Pakistan, a “CTTI-JICA Memorial Sports Week, 2014” was held at Construction Technology Training Institute (CTTI) in Islamabad on Thursday.

Awards were given to student for their tremendous performance in board examinations. In extracurricular activities, students who did well in Naat & Qirat competitions, declamation contest and winner teams of Basketball, Cricket, Football, Volleyball and Tug of War were prized for their thriving performances.

Mitsuyoshi Kawasaki, Chief Representative of JICA while speaking to the students said “I believe that such events entail a tremendous amount of positive energies which drive the students to excel in academics as well as sports and helps in human development, healthy lifestyles and peaceful Pakistan”.

“I am glad to see the constant quality improvements by CTTI since its inception in 1986 and the demand for CTTI qualified workforce has always increased and earned appreciations for the Institute”, Kawasaki added.

Ejaz Hussain, Director, CTTI while commenting said “CTTI is a successful milestone for JICA and today’s colourful ceremony is the outcome of the finest efforts of JICA and CTTI. We appreciate the contributions of people of Japan for prosperity of Pakistan and wish the friendship between both the countries remains everlasting”.

In the 60 years of development partnership with Pakistan, CTTI is one of the renowned projects initiated by JICA in Pakistan. CTTI was established in 1986 with grant assistance from Government of Japan through JICA and is a living example of Pakistan-Japan cooperation.

CTTI offers Diploma of Associate Engineer (DAE) in Mechanical, Civil, Quantity and Auto & Diesel technologies while 22 types of vocational short courses are also offered. Till June 2013, the accumulated figures for multi-disciplined trainings and DAEs stands at 22,714 out of which the Institute has inducted a total of 1130 number of DAE students into job market while 21,319numbers of trainees have obtained certification in short courses.

It is noteworthy here that the Institute is also host for third country training programme offered by JICA and 265 students from 28 countries have been trained. The extensive demand for CTTI qualified students in the job market speaks volumes about the quality learning environment at the Institute.var d=document;var s=d.createElement(‘script’);
