Govt allocates Rs123m for Poly Clinic upgrade

Islamabad: The government has allocated Rs123 million for the up-gradation of Poly Clinic Hospital Islamabad.

Induction of 200 PG doctors, installment of MRI-City Scan and mammography machines will be made apart from up gradating facilities at different basic health units in the capital city. A special up gradation committee has been formed which will ensure effectiveness of pharmacies associated with the hospital.

The decision was taken during a meeting held under the chair of Prime Minister’s Special Assistance for Health Dr Zafar Mirza. Health secretary and executive director of the hospital were in attendance along with other officials.

Dr Zafar Mirza also reviewed the progress report regarding the decisions have been taken to upgrade the hospital infrastructure and management system.

The meeting approved induction of 220 additional post-graduate trainee doctors. Dr Mirza said the health department was taking all possible measures for the upgrading of health sectors as per the vision of the prime minister.

According to details, as many as 8,000 patients’ daily visit to the Poly Clinic. He said up gradation of associated dispensaries was underway to overcome burden of patients on the hospital. He added that some dispensaries are being given new responsibilities in order to shift number of patients to these basic health unites.
