Govt issued policy guidelines for foreign appointments

ISLAMABAD: The government has issued policy guidelines for foreign appointments and postings in Pakistani Missions abroad and the international, multilateral and regional organizations.

Under the guidelines approved by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, it has been made incumbent upon the concerned ministry and division to ensure that the selection process is completely transparent and absolutely merit based. The guidelines read that all the foreign posts that are vacant or are likely to become vacant within one year will be circulated amongst the officers of the identified services, cadres and occupational groups, clearly specifying eligibility criteria in terms of educational qualification, experience and age.

The eligible officers will also have to undergo a written test and an interview for the foreign posting.

According to the guidelines, the tenure fixed for each foreign post shall be strictly followed and will not be extendable. Besides, the officer will only be eligible for two tenures of foreign posting in his entire service.} else {
