ISLAMABAD: Government plans to launch Kamyab Jawan program from next month to economically empower the youth.

Prime Minister Imran Khan was given a detailed briefing on the youth program at a meeting in Islamabad on Thursday. The Prime Minister was informed that under Kamyab Jawan Program, Youth Entreprneurship, Green Youth Movement, Startup Pakistan, Internship and Hunar Mand Jawan programs will be launched. Under this program, one hundred billion rupees loans will be given to about one hundred and fifty thousand youth in five years.

In his remarks on the occasion, Prime Minister Imran Khan said Pakistani youth have immense talent and they can excel in every field if provided with the right kind of opportunities. Imran Khan said Kamyab Jawan Program will prove to be important in not only provision of jobs to the youth but also promotion of small and medium enterprises.

Special Assistant on Youth Affairs Usman Dar informed the meeting that under this program, a special portal will be developed which will keep a credible record of all the beneficiaries of the program at the central level.

Presenting a comparative analysis of the previous youth programs with the new one, the special assistant said that the scope of previous loan schemes was very limited but this has been widened under Kamyab Jawan Program. This program comprises of two categories. In the first category, the youth will be provided with loans from one hundred thousand to five hundred thousand rupees to start their business whilst in the second category, the youth will be provided with loans from five hundred thousand rupees to five million rupees.

The meeting was informed the guarantee of third person for acquisition of loan has been abolished in Kamyab Jawan program. The youth can directly secure loans from the banks through the portal. In the first phase, National Bank, Bank of Khyber and Bank of Punjab will provide direct loans.

The Prime Minister was informed that the purpose of introducing a special portal is to ensure complete transparency and ensure disbursement of loans on merit. The portal will provide the youth an opportunity to submit their online loan applications which will not only reach the respective banks but their complete record will also be maintained at the PM office in order to ensure transparency and merit.

The Prime Minister was informed that Kamyab Jawan program especially focuses on the promotion of small and medium enterprises. It is also being ensured that the youth have the opportunties to start their businesses in modern sectors such as information technology and e-commerce. Prime Minister Imran Khan will formally inaugurate the program in the first week of next month.
