Hike in medicine prices brutal step by Punjab govt: says PTI

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar, has termed the recent increase of 15pc in prices of life saving drugs as brutal step taken by the provincial government.

He warned that if this increase in the prices was not withdrawn his party would take onto streets as a protest across the province.

Talking to media and party delegation in his office here on Thursday Ch. Mohammad Sarwar said that people of the Punjab were suffering shortage of life saving drugs and on the other side high prices of drugs also troubling the people in Punjab.

He said that PTI would not remain silent at this brutal issue and warned the government it should notice the recent increase in prices of medicines.

He said there is no doubt after criminal silence of the government; pharmaceutical companies were increasing prices of drugs with the consultation of Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (Drap).

He further said that we want to make it clear that if this increase in the prices of medicines were not withdrawn, the party would stage protests across the province.}
