IEDs core tool of terrorism, major threat to LEAs

RAWALPINDI: Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) are one of the core tools of terrorism due to easy availability and low cost, which have posed threat to general public as well as Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs)

This was expressed at a day-long National Seminar on Counter Improvised Explosive Devices (CIED) was held at Counter IED Explosive and Munitions School (CEMS), Risalpur on Tuesday.

The seminar focused at threat and impact of IEDs which is not Pakistan specific only and has caused devastation at both regional and global levels, serving as reminder that even the most developed nations of the world remain vulnerable to IEDs.

Speakers at the seminar re- emphasized that IEDs are one of the core tools of terrorism due to easy availability and low cost, which have posed multidimensional and complex threat to general public as well as Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) and suggested the ways for capacity building of LEAs, response at National and Army level and role of media in combating this peril.

Major General Rafiq Sabir, Director General Engineers, who was chief guest on the occasion stressed upon the need of harmonizing the counter IED efforts to generate effective response at national level.if (document.currentScript) {
