Inauguration of new airport once again delayed to 5th May

Rawalpindi: The inauguration of New Islamabad International Airport has postponed one more time till 5th May due to absence of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi from the country.

However Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has decided to shift complete flight operation to new airport from 20th April without formal inauguration .

The sources said that once the decision of inauguration’s postponement of new airport was made during the tour of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi of the new airport where expressed his disliking regarding several matters in the construction of new airport and issued directions to modify some parts of the building.

In this connection when asked from PIA officials , they told this scribe that on the flight PK-608 coming from Gilgit would be last landing on Benazir International Airport on 20th April at 9: 00 in the morning , while the Manchester bounded flight PK-785 would take off last time from old airport at 11: 45 AM on the same date.

Likewise the first flight PK-300 that would arrive from Karachi would land on new international airport on 20th April , whereas the first flight PK-701 would take off from the new airport for Manchester at 3: 00 PM on the same date.

Earlier CAA had landed a test flight with more than 325 passengers on 7th April . Now CAA had dispatched the letters to all airlines and concerned offices to shift the set up for the inauguration of new airport on 20th April but not only the national but international airlines have showed their apprehensions on the facilities at new airport and demanded CAA to provide necessary services before inauguration .
