Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, after arresting his son Syed Shahid Yousuf, India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) has issued summon to grandson of prominent freedom leader, Syed Salahuddin, for questioning on false charges.

The NIA has issued summon to Muzamil Ahmed Khan, the nephew of Syed Shahid Yousuf and the grandson of Syed Salahuddin. Syed Shahid Yousuf is already in the custody of the NIA in New Delhi.

Family members of Muzamil Ahmed Khan said that he was not keeping well for the past couple of months and doctors had advised him bed rest.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, in a statement in Srinagar strongly condemned the arbitrary and coercive act of raiding the house of Syed Salahuddin and summoning of his grandson, Muzamil Ahmed Khan, to New Delhi by the NIA. He called it a ploy to harass and scare the resistance leadership.

“Such tactics are aimed at preventing the resistance leadership from representing the people’s sentiments and their just political struggle,” the APHC Chairman said.

Terming as political vendetta the summoning of Muzamil Ahmed Khan, Syed Ali Gilani said, “He (Muzamil) is a student and such coercive actions are aimed at marring his educational career. These arbitrary actions won’t break the resolve of Syed Salahuddin whose family is being victimized for his dedication and commitment with the ongoing freedom movement.”

He also strongly denounced the filing of charge-sheet against prominent religious scholar Dr Zakir Naik by the Indian authorities.
