MUZAFFARABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan says Indian occupied Kashmir has become an issue of humanity as a result of illegal acts taken by the Indian Government.

Addressing a mammoth gathering at University Ground in Muzaffarabad on Friday, PM Imran Khan said the people of Indian occupied Kashmir, including women, children, and elderly, have been living under constant curfew for last 40 days.

He said only a coward person like Narendra Modi can take steps to besiege the population. He said Narendra Modi and RSS, an extremist Hindu outfit, are taking steps reminiscient of Nazi Germany.

He said despite all tyranny Indian government will not succeed as Kashmiris have shed the fear of death.

Imran Khan said Narendra Modi has been a member of RSS since childhood. This party was founded on the principle of India for Hindus only and hate against Muslims.

The Prime Minister said he will raise the voice of Kashmir at all the international forums, including UN General Assembly as an ambassador of Kashmiris.

Imran Khan said the atrocities being committed by the Indian forces against Kashmiris will lead to extremism.

Imran Khan said for the first time, the European Union also called for resolution of Kashmir issue in light of the UN Security Council’s resolutions. He said those resolutions called for giving a chance to Kashmiris through a plebiscite to decide their fate. He said 58 members of the UN Human Rights Council acknowledged the oppression going on against Kashmiris in Occupied Kashmir. He said American Senators wrote a letter to US President Donald Trump asking him to intervene in the Kashmir situation.

The Prime Minister said there will be strong reaction to the atrocities being committed by the Indian forces in the Occupied Kashmir.

He warned India to refrain from any eventuality as Pakistan will give a befitting response to any misadventure.

Imran Khan also urged the international community to play its due role in stopping Narendra Modi from using force against Kashmiris, lift curfew from the occupied Kashmir, and let the people of Kashmir to decide their fate through a referendum.

“The reason for me becoming an ambassador of Kashmiri people is that I am a Pakistani, a Muslim and a human,” he said.

Addressing Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said: “Only a coward man can commit such cruelty against human beings; today 900,000 Indian soldiers are committing atrocities against the people of occupied Kashmir.

“A brave man can never do this. No matter how much injustice you commit, you will never succeed. “Because the people of Kashmir, be it women, children or the elderly, are not scared of death anymore.

“We all should know that Modi has been a member of the RSS since he was a child. It is a Hindu extremist group and they hate Muslims, Christians and all minorities.

“They believe in Hindu supremacy and they hate Muslims because they ruled over India for [hundreds of] years. “They are walking the same path as Hitler’s Nazi party, which committed atrocities against minority groups.

“Since RSS was formed, they have wanted an ethnic cleansing of Muslims, i.e., to rid India of Muslims and this is all in accordance with their plan.

“Today Kashmir has been internationalised. United Nations Security Council held a meeting on Kashmir issue for the first time in 50 years.

“The European Union, for the first time, said that the Kashmir issue should be resolved as per UN resolutions. OIC (Organisation of Islamic Cooperation) also said that India should lift curfew in Kashmir.

“More than 40 MPs in Britain raised the Kashmir issue. I am happy that US senators wrote a letter to President Donald Trump and urged him to intervene in the matter.

“I am going to the UN General Assembly in New York and I will not disappoint the Kashmiri people.

“I will raise this issue on every international platform. If possible, watch my interview on RT tonight and tomorrow on Al Jazeera. “First I want to tell India that you are pushing people towards extremism. If you mistreated me, the women and kids of my family, I would have fought because I would have thought that death is better than this life.

“Not just the Kashmiris, but other people as well. What message are you giving to the Muslims of India? That you will live here like second-class citizens, like animals?

“You are telling them that you can oppress people in a Muslim-majority region by deploying 900,000 soldiers who blind kids, mistreat women and the elderly?”

“1.2 billion Muslims are looking at Kashmir. They will be pushed towards extremism as well. Islam means peace, we are peaceful people. But when you see that your people are being mistreated and the world is quiet, you react.

“India blamed Pakistan when a Kashmiri youth blew himself up because they did not want to tell the world that it was because of the Indian government’s brutality that Kashmiris were turning towards extremism.

“They blamed us and sent in their jet. Our airforce then brought down their jets and captured their pilot. We returned him because we wanted to solve issues through dialogue.

“They (India) said that we returned him because we got afraid. Believers do not fear death, we did not return the pilot because we are scared of you.

“They have started to [paint this narrative] again that Pakistan is sending militants. “I have said this before; we will answer every brick with a stone. “I urge the international community to stop this Indian Hitler.

“We want this issue to be solved in accordance with UN resolutions. Through a referendum, Kashmiris should have the right to choose whatever they want. We will support the Kashmiris’ choice.”

Addressing the youth of Azad Kashmir while concluding his speech, Prime Minister Imran said: “I know you want to advance towards the Line of Control, but don’t go until I tell you. First let me go to the United Nations and fight Kashmir’s case.”

India is sending a message to the world that there is no place for Muslims in India or occupied Kashmir, he said. Children are being attacked and blinded with pellet guns, he said. When you marginalize people, they turn towards radicalization, said PM Khan.

We Muslims are peaceful but when we see such brutalities we won’t stay quiet and we will retaliate, he warned. We even returned India’s pilot because we don’t want war, he said. We want peace and to sort the matter out by talking, he said.

But India and their media said that Pakistan only returned their pilot because we are scared. He warned India not to get the wrong message. We just want peace, he said, adding that Pakistan is not scared of anything. Just take the example of our air force, who shot down your plane, said the premier.

We will give due rights to the Kashmiri people through a referendum, vowed PM Khan. “They will decide their own future. Kashmir should be given to the right to their own freedom.”

I will fight the case of Kashmir, he said. PM Khan said he asked people not to cross the Line of Control and try to take the law into their own hands. I will be your voice and fight till my last breath, he said. Pakistan will reply to any aggression by India with even more force, he warned.

While addressing the gathering Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK) is under strict communication blackout and the world should take notice of this.

He said that public life in Azad Kashmir is free, while around 4000 Kashmiris have been detained in the Occupied Kashmir by the Occupation Indian forces.

The foreign minister said that there was no bar on internet, TV broadcasts, mobile service, and publication of newspapers in Azad Kashmir, while situation is totally opposite in the Indian Occupied Kashmir.

Qureshi went on to say that one million Indian troops have been deployed in the occupied Kashmir to strangulate Kashmiris voice and personal freedoms. He challenged Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to hold a public gathering in Srinagar.

Qureshi said PM Khan has come to Kashmir to stand with the people and to tell the world that he stands with the people of Kashmir. I would like to ask Modi, can he speak to the people of Kashmir like Imran Khan, he demanded. Does he have that much power to talk with the people, if yes then lift the curfew and see, he said.

Qureshi said there are no political prisoners in Azad Kashmir. The world is raising points that in Azad Kashmir people have access to TV, media, social media and the internet but the same cannot be said in occupied Kashmir, he said. The question is, why is everything cut off in occupied Kashmir, asked the minister. People are asking why there are 10,000 Indian army personnel deployed in Kashmir, he said.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan said he is grateful to the people of Pakistan for supporting Kashmir and standing by them like rocks. We will keep fighting for Kashmir, he vowed. He added that the people of occupied Kashmir want to break the Line of Control and come to Azad Kashmir.

Farooq Haider appealed to Qureshi not to accept any two-way dialogue from India. It’s a trap, he said. It is to eliminate the status quo and the rights of Kashmiris, he accused, adding that it is Pakistan’s responsibility to speak for the rights of Kashmiris living on both sides of the border.

Former Pakistan cricket team captain Shahid Khan Afridi said it’s not just about Kashmir, Pakistan will raise a voice against injustice on anyone. “We all need to unite against India and be the voice of Kashmir. We need to ask the United Nations and other [international] platforms why there is such brutality against Muslims only,” he said, adding that he would like to give credit to PM Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi for being the voice of Kashmiris and for highlighting the brutality in the valley.

Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur addressed the rally and saluted the people of Kashmir and the rest of Pakistan. He said he is thankful to everyone for raising their voice for Kashmir. Modi has turned Kashmir into a jail for the past 40 days, he said, vowing that Kashmir will get its freedom soon.

The solidarity rally was the part of a diplomatic campaign to stir world conscience over the plight of Kashmiris suffering the history’s worst kind of state-terrorism and violence at the hands of Indian forces.

In a message posted on Twitter on Wednesday, the prime minister had earlier said that the rally would aim to show the world that the people of Pakistan stand in solidarity with people of occupied Kashmir.

“I am going to do a big jalsa in Muzaffarabad on Friday 13 Sept, to send a message to the world about the continuing siege of IOJK by Indian Occupation forces; & to show the Kashmiris that Pakistan stands resolutely with them,” the premier tweeted.

A number of celebrities and singers including Shehzad Roy, Faakhir Mehmood, Javaid Shaikh, Humayun Saeed and former Pakistan captain Shahid Afirid then riled up the crowd. Faakhir and Sahir Ali Bagga also performed.

The prime minister was accompanied by Senator Faisal Javed Khan, Special Assistant to PM on Information and broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, Defence Minister Pervez Khattak and Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, among others.
