KASA Energy project delayed due to government’s lack of interest

Islamabad: Central Asia and South Asia 1000 megawatt KASA energy project delayed due to lack of concentration of government.

On completion of the 1300 megawatt project was meant to provide 1000 megawatt to Pakistan, and remaining 300 mw electricity to Afghanistan.

Project was formally announced in July 2017, and then PM participated in the inauguration ceremony of the project. The cost of this project is 1.2 billion dollars which provide 1300 megawatt electricity to national grid. Two convertors, one in Pakistan and the other would be installed in Tajikistan.

Sources confirmed that no progress was made uptil now. Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are the part of this project. Experts have already expressed reservations on this project and they were of the view that installing transmission lines in scheduled areas is a uphill task.
