Kashmir Council EU holds protest demonstration

Brussels: A protest demonstration was organised by Kashmir Council EU in front of Indian Embassy in the Belgium’s capital in connection with anniversaries of Maqbool Butt and Afzal Guru.

Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and across the world observed the martyrdom anniversary of prominent Kashmiri liberation leader, Mohammad Maqbool Butt on 11th Feb.

Mohammad Maqbool Butt was hanged in Tihar Jail of New Delhi on the 11th February in 1984 for his leading role in the Kashmiris’ on-going liberation struggle. He was buried in the premises of the prison.

Mohammad Afzal Guru was 2nd Kashmiri who was hanged and buried at the same Tehar prison by the Indian Authorities on Feb 9, 2013.

The protesters demanded an immediate handing over of the bodies of both Kashmir freedom leaders to their families in Kashmir for proper funeral prayers.

A large number of Kashmiris and their supporters attended the demonstration for paying rich tribute to the martyred leaders Speaking on the occasion Chairman Kashmir Council EU Ali Raza Syed condemned the imposition of strict restrictions in all across Indian Held Kashmir by the authorities on anniversary of the martyred leader. He said, Kashmiris are suffering for a long time ago and India is avoiding to give their right of self determination.

The Indian Held Kashmir (IHK) is witness of severe violations of human rights. Indian authorities deny the basic rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the people of the region are suffering from state terrorism for a long time. People want to have right of self-determination and settlement of issue according the desire of the people is extremely crucial for peace and prosperity in the region.
