KP summons assembly session for Fata merger

Peshawar: The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has summoned provincial assembly session on May 27, for merging Provincially Administered Tribal Areas (PATA) into Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa along with FATA.

After passing the FATA merger bill from national assembly, provincial government also summoned the session on Sunday 2 pm, while the bill in this regard will likely to be tabled before the Parliament for legislation.

On the other hands, the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F while opposing the FATA merger bill announced protest outside parliament in this regard.

Chief Minister Spokesperson, Shaukat Yousafzai said that JUI-F protest is unnecessary and they should accept their defeat in this regard. He also added according to bill jurisdiction of Supreme Court and High Court will be extended to FATA.

The spokesperson said FATA will be tax free for next five years and it will also get Rs 24 billion from NFC award, while along this, it will get extra Rs 100 billion.
