LHC adjourns hearing on Maryam Nawaz’s plea for removal of name from ECL

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday has conducted hearing on Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s plea seeking removal of her name from Exit Control List (ECL) and return of passport.

During the proceedings, head of the two member bench Justice Muhammad Tariq Abbasi asked why Maryam Nawaz wants to travel abroad over which the lawyer replied that her father, Nawaz Sharif, was severely ill. The judge questioned again as if her father is alone and nobody is there to take care of him. The counsel said Maryam Nawaz is his daughter and it is her right to look after her father. The lawyers sought more time for the preparation in the case.

Meanwhile, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor said that Maryam Nawaz’s passport cannot be returned as she is a convict.

Subsequently, the court has adjourned the hearing till first week of February after Maryam Nawaz’s lawyer sought time for preparation.

Later, the court accepted the plea of the lawyers and adjourned the hearing till the first week of February.
