Motorways police launch drone patrolling system on motorways and highways

Lahore: Federal Minister for Communications Murad Saeed on Wednesday said launching drone patrolling on Motorways and Highways is another milestone achieved by the National Highways and Motorway Police.

Effective patrolling and traffic monitoring on motorways and national highways, use of drone technology to prevent violations of traffic rules, will be effective, the communications minister said.

On the occasion, Murad Saeed appreciated the efforts of the Motorway Police.

He said that the Motorway Police today has definitely done an important duty for which the IG Motorway Police, Dr. Syed Kaleem Imam deserves the congratulations.

On this occasion, Inspector General, National Highways and Motorways Police, Dr. Syed Kaleem Imam said that Drone Patrolling, body Worn cameras and PSVs management system, tracking system in vehicles of National Highways and Motorways Police are important parts of the five years vision, which includes equipping the National Highways and Motorways Police with modern technology.

The main purpose of using drone technology is to prevent violations of traffic laws on motorways and highways, as well as to ensure the immediate assistance of distressed people in any difficulty, toll plazas, motorways and Effective monitoring of traffic flow on highways, strict monitoring of dangerous points on motorways and national highways, better monitoring of law and order situation on motorways and highways, effective monitoring of crime affected areas around motorways and national highways.

The main purpose of the use of body worn cameras is to improve the self determination of National Highways and Motorways Police officers, Reducing complaints, audio / video evidence of any accident, live recording of traffic management, modern policing on motorways and highways as well as increasing public confidence. Similarly, the main objectives of the National Highways and Motorways Police Vehicle Tracking System are to monitor the vehicles 24 hours a day through direct tracking, to check the presence and speed of patrolling vehicles on the highways, to control the presence of patrolling vehicles in their areas of jurisdiction.

Ensure monitoring of patrol vehicles while monitoring operational activities involves checking and verifying the track record of the patrol vehicle as and when required.
