NA committee expresses annoyance over delay of Karachi Textile, Garments City project

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on Textile has issued direction to set up sub-committee headed by Abdul Rashid Godail to investigate delay in construction of Karachi Garments City and Pakistan Textile City for decades.

According to details session of committee chaired by Chairman Khwaja Ghulam Rasool Koreja was held at Ministry of Textile here on Wednesday in which committee was briefed about the construction of Karachi Garments City and Pakistan Textile City.

Expressing their annoyance over the delay of the project Standing Committee said that officers concerned department making corruption instead of fulfil their responsibilities.

Member of National Assembly (MNA) Jamshed Dasti said that there are corruptions in every Sindh’s project including Karachi and unfortunately we have no rights to give punishment to any corrupt officer, he added.

Jamshed Dasti said that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is stronghold of corruption.

MNA Abdul Rashid Godail said millions of rupees were being spent on soil and the matter over delay in project’ construction should be inquired.

Chairman Standing Committee said while declaring the budged recommendation sent by Ministry of Textile was incomplete, that without any details project amount has been demanded.

Committee has agreed to visit the University for the briefing on recommended PC1 of Faisal Abad Textile University and Chairman Committee has given direction to budged officers of Ministry of Textile that they should provide budged recommendation before 5 days to all members of committee.

Committee has given approval for establishing Textile universities also in four provinces of Pakistan.}
