PAC directs NAB to investigate 7.5m corruption scandal in OPF housing society

Islamabad: Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has sent a reference to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for the investigation of Rs 7.5 billion corruption scandal in Overseas Pakistani Foundation’s (OPF) housing society.

According to details, Syed Khursheed Shah has chaired PAC’s session here on Tuesday in Parliament House and discussed mega corruption scandals. Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Ashiq Gopang, Nazir Sultan and other high profile people attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, Federal investigation Agency (FIA) was directed to file cases against the former board of directors under criminal act and investigate the plots allotted to them.

Secretary Khizar Hayat OPF has actually requested PAC to forward the case to NAB in order to limelight the corruption of former board members.

The corruption hit society was to be built 26 years earlier for abroad Pakistanis but OPF officers have sold all the plots.

PAC has directed administration to recover Rs 11.6 million advance given to the contractor of Rawat Housing Scheme for boundary wall and expressed concerns over the corruption of Rs 700 million tax money.

PAC has passed orders to investigate the allotment of OPF’s plots to Shifa International hospital on lease in F-11 sector.

Meanwhile, Khizer was directed to pursue a departmental inquiry of all corruption cases.
