Lahore: Senior lawyer Mian Zafar Iqbal on Monday filed a petition in the apex court against missing mechanism to monitor the performance of the district courts. The petitioner prayed the top court to bind five High courts of the country for effective supervisory of the district courts. It also requested the Court to direct all High courts of the country to formulate some rules and regulations in order to ensure early decision of cases.

According to details, all five high courts’ chief justices are made party in the petition. Under the Article 203, all provincial courts are bound to develop a regulatory mechanism, under which they were supposed to keep check and balance of timely decisions of cases, addressing of public complaints against judiciary staff and judges, imposition of judges service structure and other matters pretending to the district courts’ managements. The senior lawyer informed the court that due to inactive monitoring system, cases remained pending in the district courts for years. He said the role of member inspection team has been limited to the post office where complaints were just being received.
