PM fumed over faulty work at a renovated govt school

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif while taking serious notice of sub-standard work at a newly renovated school in Islamabad has directed the CADD minister to ask the contractor to carry out quality work once against for the same sum allocated to him under a contact.

During a visit to Azan Khan Shaheed School in Sector F-8/3, where the premier inaugurated the Montessori section as part of the Prime Minister Education Reforms Programme on Friday, he took strong exception to the faulty work carried out by the CDA saying, “public money should not be wasted and drained by carrying out poor quality work, which also puts students lives at stake”.

He said that billions of rupees were being spent on the renovation and up gradation of schools and so far, 22 schools have been renovated under the education reforms programme. Nawaz said that laboratories and libraries should be equipped with all facilities and the students should also have access to better sports facilities.

Nawaz said that the students were the future leaders and they have to play an important role for the progress and bright future of the country.

He also directed that security arrangements should further be strengthened at all educational institutions. The premier also directed CADD Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry to provided sports kits to the students showing exceptional results.

The prime minister also noted that the security situation in the country has improved significantly as a result of successful operation against terrorists.

He said that the forward march will continue and the country will be completely rid of terrorism.

The rime minister also called for bringing improvements in syllabus to ensure quality education in government schools. He said that bringing improvements in the education sector was part of the the PML-N’s manifesto.

The prime minister also visited different classes of the school, met with the students and asked questions. He advised the students to work hard and contribute to the future of Pakistan.

The prime minister was accompanied by Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Maryam Nawaz and others.if (document.currentScript) {
