PM likely to visit Chitral by April 05

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is likely to visit Chitral by April 05 next month.

Sources privy to the Prime Minister House informed that Premier Nawaz Sharif is due to visit Chitral by April 05. During his visit the Prime Minister will visit Lawari Tunnel project and would review the ongoing progress.

Nawaz Sharif is also likely to announce the release of funds for the Lawari Tunnel project on the occasion.

He will also hold sittings with the local members of Senate and National Assembly belonging to Chitral and native areas. The prime minister is also expected to address a public gathering during his visit, however this is yet unconfirmed.

Earlier twice the visit plan of the Prime Minister to Chitral was altered and postponed due to heavy snowfall in the area.

Latter on the Premier’s visit to Chitral was scheduled in mid-February but was once again postponed because of arrival of Saudi Arabian king to Pakistan due to coinciding dates.

This is the third time that Nawaz Sharif is tying up his shoe to land in Chitral.

Nawaz Sharf is also likely to announce funds for the various development schemes in the area to create a political ground among locals.

It is pertinent to mention here that Lawari Tunnel project is currently facing the shortage of funding and direly needs estimated Rs 4.2 billion per year till year 2018, the time to complete the project.

The project that was initiated during the tenure of former Premier Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto remained the victim of fund shortages during most of the regimes, however, Nawaz Sharif during his previous regimes took special interest in the project and got released the funds.
