PNEC and NUST bag Communication Trophy for Pakistan in Eco Marathon

KARACHI: Pakistan Naval Engineering College (PNEC) and National University of Engineering and Technology (NUST) clinched the Communications trophy for the country, with a prize money of US$2000, at the Shell Eco Marathon 2014.

According to details made available to reporter Thursday it was for the first time in the history of Shell Eco Marathon that Pakistan won an award.

This success was attributed to team’s innovative and outstanding approach in marketing and communication as they involved families and celebrities, conducted awareness campaigns and organized mall shows to exhibit their cars.

This was besides their efforts to highlight the importance of eco friendliness for a greener earth.

On track, PNEC – NUST finished 6th in the Urban gasoline category and 11th in the Prototype gasoline one.

Muhammad Haroon, Team Manager of Team PNEC-NUST expressing his pleasure for winning an honor for the country said efforts are already underway for successful participation in the next Shell Eco Marathon.

“Recruitment of new team has been done and team is very determined and hopeful of wining on track award in Shell Eco Marathon 2015,” he said.

It may be mentioned that engineering students from all over the globe participate in the annual event through designing, manufacturing and devising different fuel efficient cars.
