RAWALPINDI: Non disbursement of salary since the last three months has caused embarrassment among the polio vaccination staff in Rawalpindi. These workers are performing the duty of administering polio drops since the last three months in 16 camps set up at entry and exit points of Rawalpindi city in collaboration with World Health Organization (WHO).

The compensation was fixed Rs 7500 per month for each member of polio vaccination staff at the time of their enrolment. As many as 130 polio vaccination volunteers are performing the duty since January, 1, 2014. But not a single pie has been paid to them on account of the compensation agreed upon with them at the time of their recruitment and this state of affairs has put them and their families on the brink of starvation.

These workers have demanded for immediate payment of their outstanding salaries to mitigate their financial woes.
