PPP to talk to MQM if Altaf Hussain takes his statements back: Khurshid Shah

KARACHI: Opposition leader Syed Khurshid Shah said on Monday Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) would sit for talks with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on the condition that Altaf Hussain takes his statement back regarding army and imposition of Martial law.

Speaking at the party’s 30th Foundation Day, celebrated at Jinnah ground in Karachi, the party leader had said MQM has always been proponent of Martial law and we (PPP) will not let anyone to succeed in sabotaging democracy in the country.

“Dialogue is part of democracy and PPP will only go for talks with MQM if Altaf Hussain withdraws his statement, he said adding if in such a situation PPP begins dialogue with MQM then it will give an impression that PPP is also supporter of dictatorship.

“The government should not use the Pakistan army for their own purpose and should not involve them in killing Muslim brothers in Libya, Syria, Bahrain and other countries”, Shah said

Khurshid Shah condoling over the death of JASQAM political leader said the opposition will not tolerate carnage of any political leaders. ‘We will raise this matter in the meeting of Senate.’

While replying to a question, he said new IG Sindh would be appointed soon while still two names have been sent to the federal government for consideration.
