PTU decides to challenge inter-district transfers of teachers in court

Rawalpindi: Punjab Teachers Union (PTU) has decided to challenge inter-district transfers in the court, sources said on Thursday.

In this regard, a petition will be soon filed in the court, they said. It is pertinent to mention here that the Supreme Court had imposed ban on inter-district transfers of teachers in the province. Despite the top court orders, the Punjab education department made transferred last years due to extra teachers then need in cities. PTU had challenges that decision and the case is still under proceeding in the district court.

The teachers union took stance that the decision not only violated the court orders but the law of education departments as well.

PTU District President Raja Shahid Mubarak said the teachers in district schools have been provided their services while travelling several kilometers daily. Many teachers have to change two or three vehicles to reach their distinction.

Mubarak said the government instead of making new experiments everyday should implement basics of education police so that education quality can be improved. He said teachers should be given facilities so that they can contribute in building a good nation.

He said likewise the precious decision, the union will challenge the new decision of the government in the court. He said instead of inter-district within district transfers will be supported. He warned protest along with challenging the decision in the court.
