Punjab, federal govts adopted undemocratic & unconstitutional way for imposing ban on TLP: Liaqat Baloch

LAHORE: Naib Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan and Secretary General Milli Yakjehti Council (MYC) Liaqat Baloch has said that Punjab and federal governments have adopted undemocratic and unconstitutional way for imposing ban on Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP).

In a statement issued on Thursday, Liaqat Baloch said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) introduced lawlessness in the protest and sit-ins and badly tortured the police personnel, attacks were carried on state buildings, adding that if TLP leadership and workers have committed illegal actions then the legal ways are present to deal with them.

Liaqat Baloch said that the matter of imposing ban on the party which is registered with the Election Commission Pakistan (ECP) is laid in the law and constitution, adding that the government itself is committing lawlessness. He said that the government while imposing ban on the TLP has given message to its opponent parties. He said that the government writ is not present due to the incapability, blackmailing of the coalition partners, failures at political and economic fronts and this is not due to the TLP. He said that the government is running on artificial support and crutches. He said that state institutions and government itself struck agreements with Tehreek-e-Labbaik, adding that government itself is not implementing the agreements, adding that what way except the protest left against the government which did not follow agreements. He said that government instead of imposing ban illegally and unconstitutionally should fulfill its promise.

He said that in political democratic process all the political, religious and democratic forces enjoy right of carrying out peaceful protest while remaining under the ambit of the law, adding that the government, political and religious parties should themselves close the way of lawlessness.

Liaqat Baloch said that the government due to its wrong policies is responsible for flour, sugar and oil crises, adding that if the government and policy making institutions did not take decisions on time then crises are emerged. He said that the action should be taken against sugar crisis and responsible for the sugar crises but it is beyond understanding to humiliate every segment targeting separately. He said that the country will only run through industrial development, adding that the prime minister instead of humiliating the human beings should take legal action while using government powers, adding that media trial and government strategy is destroying the national unity.
