Qureshi urges political parties to rise above their political differences & speak with one voice in support of oppressed Kashmiri people

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Hussain Qureshi has urged the political parties to rise above their political differences and speak with one voice in support of oppressed Kashmiri people at this critical juncture.

He was addressing the National Parliamentarians Conference on Kashmir in Islamabad on Wednesday. Organized by the Senate, political leaders and elected representatives attended the moot to express their solidarity with their Kashmiri brethren.

The Foreign Minister said Modi government has Akhand Bharat mindset and the gravity of situation demands sanity on our part. He said certain political forces should not blow the trumpet which hurts the interests of Pakistan and benefits India. He said those planning to organize Azadi March should turn it into Azadi March Kashmir.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi appreciated the Chairman Senate Mir Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani for holding this conference saying this gives the message that the elected representatives regardless of their differences are united for the Kashmiri people.

He said today’s leadership in Pakistan will not show any flexibility on Kashmir dispute. He said today we have the prime minister who will not make any compromise on the interests of Pakistan.

The Foreign Minister once again categorically stated that Pakistan stands fully behind their Kashmiri brethren. He said the world can turn its face from Kashmir but Pakistan never will. This, he said, is the decision of the nation and the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Prime Minister Imran Khan will effectively present the case of Kashmiris before the upcoming session of UN General Assembly. He said the Prime Minister in his address will represent the aspirations of Pakistani and Kashmiri people.

The Foreign Minister said that Kashmir dispute stands internationalized today and credit for this goes to the Prime Minister. He pointed out that the UN Security Council held discussions on the festering dispute after a gap of fifty four years despite Indian efforts to get it postponed. He said the UNSC meeting reaffirmed Pakistan’s stance that Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory and it can be resolved only through the UN Charter and the UN Security Council resolutions.

The Foreign Minister said the EU parliament held discussion on Kashmir dispute last night in which it not only voiced concerns over the prevailing situation in occupied Kashmir but also demanded the resolution of outstanding dispute in accordance with the aspirations of Kashmiri people.

The Foreign Minister said that the UN Human Rights Council at its recent meeting in Geneva also rejected the stance of India on the situation in occupied Kashmir. He said fifty eight membrs of the council expressed solidarity with the statement presented by Pakistan.

He said the western media today is also exposing the true face of India. The Foreign Minister said that not only Pakistan and Kashmiri people have rejected India’s 5th August illegal steps in occupied Kashmir but India is also divided on it. Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani emphatically stated that Pakistan will always stand by their Kashmiri brethern for protection of their rights.

The Chairman Senate said there is humanitarian crisis in occupied Kashmir and the aim of this conference is to impress upon the international community to ensure that the humanitarian aid reach the Kashmiri people in the occupied valley.

The Chairman Senate said that Pakistan will continue to expose Indian tyranny and genocide in occupied Kashmir. Sadiq Sanjrani expressed the confidence that the national and provincial leadership at the conference will come up with a strategy to effectively highlight the plight of Kashmiri people at different levels.

Speaking on the occasion, Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan said India has hegemonic designs in the region and Pakistan is the only obstacle in its way.

The AJK Prime Minister said that Pakistan stands on high moral ground as it has always accepted the right of self determination of Kashmiri people. He said Pakistani nation has been supporting the Kashmir cause for the last seven decades.

The AJK Prime Minister said the Kashmiri people will fight till the end to secure their rights. He said we have full confidence on the armed forces of Pakistan and the Pakistani nation stand by their forces.
