RAC to stage drama on Sepoy Maqbool Hussain’s life

Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) will present a stage drama “Watan ka Shedai” depicting the life of the hero of 1965 war Sepoy Maqbool Hussain on Saturday, 13th October at 6:00 p.m. in the RAC Auditorium.

Punjab Information & Culture Minister Fayyazul Hassan Chohan will be thechief guest. The drama is authored by Naheed Manzoor.

Maqbool Hussain was taken as a prisoner by Indian army in the 1965 war. He spent 40 years in Indian jails and he was subjected to terrible torture but Sepoy Maqbool Hussain emerged as a symbol of resilience. He braved through inhuman conditions and suffered dreadful torture but he never disclosed secrets of the country and continued chanting slogans Long Live Pakistan till his tongue was chopped off.

After that Sepoy Maqbool Hussain wrote “Pakistan Zindabad” with his blood during the confinement. He was released by Indian authorities in 2015 and he returned back to his unit and saluted the Unit Commander and introduced himself by writing on the paper # 335139 and then his identity was revealed to the Pakistani authorities and he was given the salute of the hero.
