Railways to introduce tracking system in 122 trains

Islamabad : Pakistan Railways has introduced a train tracking system in 122 passengers’ trains and Prime Minister Imran Khan will likely to inaugurate the tracking system today at the Rawalpindi railway station, sources said on Monday.

The train tracking system is donated by a retired railways officer’s son to enhance railway services for common public. The system will save over Rs70 million of the Pakistan railways.

Syed Mudassar Hussain Zaidi, the youngster donated the train tracking system, talking to mediasaid the App has been introduced as “Pak Rail Live” and the application will be helpful in tracking trains locations and speed.

Zaidi further said the app will help passengers to get train arrival and departure timing which will secure them from undue wait at railway stations.

The control room of this tracking system will be in Lahore and if trains locations could not be tracked due to network issue the passengers can communicate at 117 to get themselves informed about the train timings.

The tracking system will help reducing burden on 117 help line as well, he maintained. Zaidi made it clear that he has donated the app and didn’t receive any reward or money from the Pakistan Railways. It is the outcome of his dedicated efforts to easy public only.

The youngster further said that once he spent an entire night at a railway station due to delay in train late arrival and after that he had decided to introduce an App to get to know about trains’ timings.

He said in the initial phase the system will be introduced in 122 trains and later the app will be introduced in other trains as well. He said they took five months to prepare this App. Zaidi said the Pakistan Railways was planning to tender a bid for the app with an estimated cost over Rs10 million, but the app is a donation not sale.

The man said Pakistan Railways can earn Rs3 million per months with the introduction of this application because big companies will pay to railway for their logos. The app will be available for public after its inaugurations, he said.

Zaidi said the app will enable public for booking online which was earlier not possible. The app will be helpful in iPhone, he said.
