Resolution seeking Tamgha-e-Jamhuriat for army chief submitted in PA

LAHORE: A resolution was submitted in Punjab Assembly (PA) on Tuesday calling for Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa to be awarded ‘Tamgha-e-Jamhuriat’ (Medal for Democracy).

The resolution was submitted by PTI leader Haroon Gul in the Punjab provincial assembly.

It stated: “Parliament witnesses the Army Chief with an incredible honour for serving the country with absolute professionalism as a soldier, working for national safety”.

It added that the parliament lauds General Bajwa’s unbiased attitude for prestige and stability of democracy in Pakistan.

Banazir Bhutto when first time came into power in 1988, she awarded the then Army chief Mirza Aslam Baig with the medal for democracy.
