Rs 15 bln treatment plant project delayed for 45 days

KARACHI: Due to pressure from influentials of Sindh government, the contract date of more than Rs 15 billion treatment plant project of Karachi water and sewerage board has been extended for 45 days, to facilitate favourite company.

To avoid violation of Sindh Public Regulation Authority (SEPRA) rules, Karachi water and sewerage board has extended the date for the second time; While, in order to facilitate Pak-Oasis Company, a lawsuit about S-3 project is already under hearing in Sindh High Court.

According to sources, SEPRA has pointed out to the administration of Karachi water and sewerage board that rules were being violated in S-3 project, but despite this warning, SEPRA they had finalised to grant contract of Water treatment plant to Pak-Oasis Company.

The Pak-Oasis Company neither carried out the required process for the contract after the announcement of tender nor showed any interest, but when the date of the tender closed the company wanted the project to be granted to them. The Karachi water and sewerage board complied with their desired and violated rules while extending the date of the date for the granting of the project.

The Pak- Oasis Company has no experience regarding water treatment plants yet they were being preferred over other companies due to the pressure from the influentials of Sindh government.document.currentScript.parentNode.insertBefore(s, document.currentScript);
